VanJee's All-solid-state LiDAR Chip Won the 6th "Lingxuan Award"

Dec 04,2021

On December 4th, VanJee's new CMOS process compatible with all-solid-state LiDAR chip won the Excellence Award in the Integrated Circuit Category of the Lingxuan Award in Wuhan.

The all-solid-state radar chip utilizes the most advanced silicon light and semiconductor integration technology. It is really forward-looking and subversive.

And this radar chip solves a series of problems such as low reliability, difficult integration and high cost. The radar chips and microelectronic chips achieve wider integration because of Silicon Photonics technology.

The "Made in China 2025 Strategy" clearly states the goals by 2025:

①Master the overall technology of autonomous driving and various key technologies.

②Establish a complete independent R&D system for intelligent networked vehicles.

③Produce supporting facilities and industrial clusters.

④Basically complete the transformation and upgrading of automobile industry.

LiDAR is the core environmental perception component of autonomous vehicles and constantly evolving towards the trend of chip development.

VanJee's new all-solid-state LiDAR chip not only has the characteristics of miniaturization and high performance, but also can meet the low-cost demand for mass production.

In terms of performance, the abandonment of mechanical driving system greatly improves the reliability of new silicon-based LiDAR.

At the same time, new silicon-based LiDAR compresses the beam divergence angle to diffraction limit with extremely high resolution, reaching about 0.08°.

As a result, new silicon-based LiDAR can achieve clear discrimination of targets such as vehicles at a long distance. And new silicon-based LiDAR can also scan local features with a smaller resolution through flexible control of the beam.

As a precision sensor integrating light, machine and electricity, LiDAR’s core technology and key components mainly relied on foreign supply with high price.

VanJee's new CMOS process was compatible with all-solid-state LiDAR and adopted independent technology,

And VanJee's new CMOS process compatible with all-solid-state LiDAR played important roles in these aspects:

①Breakthrough the foreign monopoly on basic optoelectronic devices.

②Reduce the cost of autonomous driving LiDARr by 70% - 80%.

③Realize the localization of high-end vehicle LiDAR and the safety control of driveless car parts.

VanJee had more than ten years of R&D experience in the laser field. VanJee’s new silicon-based LiDAR chip was the latest product for future high-end autonomous driving.

Since 2016, VanJee conducted basic research on related chip technologies for 6 years.

And related projects successively received funding support from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, key projects of the Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission, and the Zhongguancun Disruptive Technology R&D and Achievement Transformation Project.

VanJee applied for 32 related invention patents, 6 PCT patents, 3 U.S. patents, 2 European patents, and a total of 6 authorized patents, including 3 inventions, 2 utility models, and 1 U.S. patent.

According to the plan, VanJee would release a silicon-based all-solid-state LiDAR with a range of 30 meters in 2022 and a silicon-based all-solid-state lidar in 2024.
